Therapy is not only about dealing with problems. It’s also about exploring potential. I divide therapeutic work into three phases, which are closely interrelated--internal, external and eternal.
-The internal phase focuses on problems that a person experiences in their internal world, such as feeling depressed or anxious, as well as the potential within each person for healing and self-acceptance. Often early experiences in childhood and adolescence, and relationships with parents and family members have a profound effect on the way we experience our internal world.
-The external phase focuses on problems that a person experiences in their relationships with others, such as intimate partners, parents, children and friends, as well as the potential within each person for satisfying and nurturing relationships.
